wow strange fish. im getting the bleeding hearts on friday
and if there isnt a pair of pearls i will order one. I will also buy another angel

Oh And does any1 know why firemouth dig? My firemouths don't stop digging and digging, I heard its normal but why on earth would they disg on a regular basis!?!?!

Firemouths are very closley related to Geophagus Brasiliensis and they are a type of Eartheater.

now that i have two angels gone can i get a jewel cichlid to replace them? :-(

you're limited to only other medium sized semi aggressive cichlids for your setup, which adds up to "not much"

I would suggest keyholes, but they're timid and shy, the boisterousness of the firemouths would probably scare them off.

And jewel cichlids are very aggressive, single or paired, only get one if you don't like the rest of your stock. There are reports on fish profiles of them being peaceful online, but I've got to see it to believe it, and I haven't seen it. The jewels at the LFS if they're more than 2 inches long are often tattered and broken from being kept in the same aquarium with each other, which just spells trouble. I'd put them up there with convict cichlids in terms of their aggression. Do yourself a favor, just get more angels.

Make that 3 more angels, their dropping like flies! Got home 2day and my 2nd koi was dead! Now ithe last small angel is my see-through one, I still have my two larger angels, their doing fine but my small ones don't seem happy

And this is why we start low instead of jumping to discus.

I'm not sure why your angels are dying so fast, they do out here because the pH of our tap water is 7.8. Check all your perimeters, pH, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, Temperature, decorations, tank mates. Keep a close eye on both your firemouths and the shark for aggressive behavior, a baby angelfish is not going to take well to being harassed by bigger stronger fishes.

Water parameters are all fine, my big one just died so that's 4 but my other fish are fine, I haven't seen much aggressive behaviour but I'm not always watching.

It's possible they all just have Angel Fish Disease, it's been plaguing the angels in all 4 of my LFS's for quite some time. It kills suddenly, and I don't really know what causes it. But maybe you should try for a different community, or order them online, or try and catch them before the LFS dumps them in their stocking tanks.

They seem to sit at the bottom of the tank or the top of the tank about 5 minutesd before they die, I currently have 2 left 1 showed symptoms but I took huge care and he made it through the night, the other angel, however, has been looking fine, and he is the smallest angel. I can see inside him cuz he's transparent, I can see his brain intestines and everything, but I can't see anything wrong with him inrernaly

Pictures? Clamped fins is one of the biggest signs of a fish with angelfish disease. unfortunately the disease seems to be pretty much incurable, and I believe happens because of overbreeding. I read it's highly contagious from one angelfish to another, so it's actually recommended to euthanize any fish that get it rather than treat it.

no clamped fins on either, u cant rly see the second ones fins but thier the same
