Color loss

Always find loss of color can be result of poor water quality and diet. Can be other things. What is your water results? so we can rule that out.

water conditions
ammonia <.5ppm
nitrite 0

I do water changes fairly regularly and due to the chloramine in the tap, it causes there to be detoxified ammonia in the water. This deminishes given the biofilter enough time though.

Diet - tropical flakes, they also eat some of the stray bloodworms my BKG doesn't get to first, I havent seen them do it much but sometimes they will nibble on the algae disks

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but on a fully cycled tank ammonia should be zero within a few hours of a water change unless there is a heavy dose of Chlorine/Chloramine in the water (more than their ever should be).

From what I understood when a good cycled tank is done their are enough of the various bacteria to eat up any ammonia spikes in a few hours and clear the tank back down.
