Hi,ive treated my tank twice over two weekz,i blacked tank during med,it was def velvet cos platty and molly were rusty and gold, they show inprovement as in the rust has 90% gone, but my wonderfull clown loach are still flicking every now and then,i treated with protazin at 90% dose, tank stats are:-ammonia:0/nitrite:0/nitrate:20!! Second one down on chart!

If the rust hasn't completely gone i'm afraid you will have to do another round of meds.

Hi,well its gone from all fish but the molly but he looks like he got flakes of gold on him rather than rust,i really dont want to treat again this is bleak

If you don't kill the parasite completely it could all flare back up again once the meds have stopped.
It's up to you, but velvet far harder to get rid of then whitespot.

Ahh man, will treat again then, should i do it today ive been filterin carbon and 20ltr wc yesterday, the molly looks beyond med he is gold almost and sits at surface a lot,man i had no idea about velvet,i was just very aware of whitespot as thats what ppl say clowns are most likely to catch, but now i know o boy i know.

Can the velvet be killed even when its in such an advanced stage of its dirty life as i only realized wt it was after months,

I would of expected deaths if you had velvet months.

Once the parasite multiplys and the fish infested with the parasite, the fish rarely makes it once it attack the gills of the fish.

Yes parasites can be killed in advance stages. It just might take longer.

I have never lost a clown which is astonashin,i lost a bala after a week or so i dont know why,one day i found the bala swiming weirdly couldnt swim wright,i isolated him but he went after a hr or so r.i.p,but to be honest i first notice a clown flickin a few month ago but i hoped it was just itch, when it got worse i thought about meds and used sterazin, then protazin after posts on the forum,

The gold flakes on the molly arnt shifting but the rest are inproving but few flick still, should i use esha 2000 or mcrlyn to beat off bactiria, whats up with the molly then

1of my clowns now has a funny patch on black band, its like a less black patch an the black stripe and its also on the other side, hope its skin isnt fallin off,im on my last dose of protazin round 3,all other clowns and fish are fine, acording to waterlife site u treat with protezin for velvet untill the fish are breathing within 60 gill beats per min which my are well in the 60 gill b p m,when they are doing 300 gill b p m that mean trouble,so fingers cross im gona use esha 2000 for bacteria, then gona reduce my tank numbers leavin 6 clown and 4 barbs 3 molly

After how many wc can i use esha 2000 its been 4-5days since last protazin dose, ive done 40-50wc in last 3day but ive not used carbon as im waiting delivery of some, basicly will there still be active protazin in the water! I dont want a chemical overload, the clowns are lookin better now they arnt flickin now but have few scatches and a bit pale, possibly from all that scraping,

Are you sure the gold on the fish is not her markings?

You need to remove the waterlife med before you can use esha 2000.

What are your water stats. As the flicking could also be due to bad water quality, or the med irratating the fish skin.

I dont think the gold flakes r her markings as the other mollys that she gave birth to about 6 months ago r perfect black and white, stats, amm 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20 2nd chart down(safe),ph 7.7?-not so good, ghkh?test kit for gh kh is for aliens i cant understand it,ive began esha 2000 after 50% wc over 6 days+ carbon, esha turned the water green,

What colour is the esha med?

Can you isolate the sick fish with velvet.
As I think I would carry on treating her in isolation.

Also soak her food in garlic juice to boost her immune system.

The esha goes green when it hits water, clears after 4 odd hours,is this normal, fish seemed fine, cant isolate molly as other tank has cardinals and guppys
