Well, at walmart theres this sponge thats designed for algae, something like that. It's green, making the algae invisible when reusing. It's told to be easy to clean, and durable. It can reach areas I cant reach with my little sponge. ): (lots of positive feedback from people that used the algae cleaner thing. :))

Should I just use a toothbrush?
The algae one is larger. it also can bend, but its fourteen dollars. CAN.

worth it? Thanks for the help,

Don't know what you have in your tank already but since I added shrimps (amano and cherry) and nerite snails I haven't seen any algae - between them they stripped everything in the tank of the slightest trace and I now add algae (wafers, crushed, etc) for them.

use an old credit card to get algae off the glass, things like rocks/wood i find best to have a fish to keep clean like otto's

I use a long handled baby bottle cleaning brush, much cheaper and can get into all the awkward places.

That works great. Also, if you want a true fish related item for it, the magnetic cleaners like this one work quite well. These are very strong magnets and do a good job on the glass.

I just use the thin plastic scrubbing pads that come 12 to a package for $1 in the dollar store. I like the idea of using a new one each time I clean the tanks and disposing of it afterward.

argh, i can't do the 12pack/1dollar idea. my mom doesnt think money grows on trees, while i work for my money. (shovelling snow got me a big 100 dollars ! :D and also, trimming lawns, cleaning out garages, etc.)

The toothbrush breaks too fast, for me. and then it gets really dirty, and then the algae wont come off. ):
I can get the magnet, but its around 8 dollars. :p I still dont understand how it works, so i wont bother.
I'll use an old card, similar to a credit card.

Thanks for the reply guys! :D

Next time you get ready to clean the tank, tell her you need her credit card and she will freak out.

Seriously, you could easily use the scrubbing pads (I'm assuming something like Scotch-Brite) over again. A 12 pack could last you a year or more. I have had an algae mitt since I got my first tank over 4 years ago and it sill works fine.
