Hi there,

I recently bought an old juwel 240, and it's been in storage for some time. Anyway the tank itself is mucky, the glass appears to have algae all over it (it's dry though) which takes a bit of scraping with a fingernail to remove (it doesn't just slide off)

This is the tank in question.

Anyway does anyone have any tips as to the best way to clean it?

Thanks

Vinegar, water, and a razor blade, followed by a scrubby and a good rinse.

I hope you offered 30 for it.

Hrm, okay, thanks. So a soak in vinegar and then trying to remove it with a blade?

Just be careful you don't scratch the glass if you use a razor. An old plastic card (like a credit card) might do the job more safely, or you could try salt and half a lemon; the salt works like a scouring powder, but won't leave you any nasty residues.

Oooh that's brilliant. Yes, I'll do that before I start going at it with a razor.
