Hi,

I know this is probably a question that comes up a lot but other than Kribensis and Ram's are there any other cichlids that are suitable for general community tank setups?

Thanks
Adam

I have a special liking for Orange Chromides & always recommend.

Angelfish are the obvious one. A lot of fish stores group them with community fish instead of cichlids, but they are cichlids. There's also a great many Apistogramma dwarf cichlids.

Keyhole cichlids are great community fish, too. Very peaceful, even timid (mine have become quite bold with time, though), and they're fascinating to watch. They're not as attractive as kribs or rams, since they're just tan and brown, but they can change the pattern of their markings quickly as they interact with their surroundings or tankmates.

how big do keyholes get? i havent seen them in my lfs. what price do they tend to go for? and lastly what size tank do you recommend.

4-5 inches. I paid $12 each for my pair (something like 6 or 7 pounds for the UK folks), but I rarely see them in stock. When I bought mine, the clerk said it had been over a year since the store had stocked them, and the last batch never sold. They still have all four of the others.
