is that foam in the top? or is that a nest? if it is foam, what's it for?

It's for the male to build his nest under. Some people use a styrofoam cup cut in half. I cut a section out of a styrofoam plate. Some people just float an almond leaf. The males just like to build their nests under something floating and I've read that it helps the nest stay together, too.
I'm so excited for you, Jaded. The couple is just lovely and the pics and videos are amazing. If all those eggs make it to fry stage you're gonna be loaded with babies!! Please keep us updated!

Thanks for all of the compliments!! Invader, yes the babies will be for sale once they're old enough!! I was taking a look at royals nest and the eggs, omg soooo many!! Last time these 2 spawned royal clumped all of the eggs into the middle making a section of eggs about the size of a quarter, and there were at least 150 babies (before he decided to eat them) this time his clump of eggs is more then twice the size of last time! My there are going to be A LOT of babies!! :hyper:

We Have BABIES!!!!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: You can see all of the little tail hanging down!! AWWW They're sooooooooooo cute!! And Royals being a good daddy (so far) hopefully there will be no munching this time!!

If I notice him snacking I'll take him out, but I'm trying feeding him while he has the babies to keep his tummy full and then hopefully the babies won't be so tempting

congrats on the babies!!! lol I might get one when they are old enough. Who knows?

Woohoo! :hyper: :good: :) :p :# :fun:   ^_^ :flowers: Congratz! Wish I could get some of the babies when they are grown up, who knows, maybe I will! And with all these breeding betta threads I can't wait to start breeding! But I still gotta do loads of research
