Was fiddling with one of my filters yesterday, re-routing the hosing, job done.

Went out last night for about four hours, came back, sat down, looked at fish tank.

Hmmm, seems to be missing a little water, perhaps an airlock cleared. No, that's quite a bit of water, oh shite the floor is wet!

One of my hoses had started to come away from the filter underneath the tank and was leaking water onto the carpet!

Refitted hose, tightened and got out the carpet cleaner and sucked up as much water as I could, still wet and stained this morning; heaven knows how much water got under the tank.

Good job on two counts though: 1 -- I spotted it before I went to bed and 2 -- the hose didn't come off all the way otherwise I would have had the best part of 600 litres of water in the living room, two burnt out heaters, a lot of dead fish and the end of my fish-keeping hobby. As it was I think I lost about 15 litres on to the carpet.

So, check your hoses are tight, do it now, or you may regret it.

I use hose clamps on all of mine:

Sounds like you were lucky considering. Glad just a 'minor' disaster, could have been a lot worse as you say. Whew!

Thats a top tip TTA, jubilee clips will help to ensure these filter hoses stay on.
