Hi, I have a saltwater tank that has been running for about 2 years now. It is a 4ft standard, i think about 200litres. I think a build up of water and some algae have caused the center brace to become loose from the front of the tank.
Just wonder what the best cause of action to take with this situation is?
Will the tank collapse if we remove the center brace while there is water in it?
Will any silicon that comes in contact with the water during re bonding cause issues?
Any advice on this would be wonderful and how to rectify this and any cautions. thank you.

unless your glass is 12mm+, i would be worried if the tank has no brace.

yes water will interfere with the silicone curing. weight of water will also cause problems.

I would advise this be done with the tank empty. the silicone will need time to cure, typically 24-48 hours, and stressing it will cause further problems.

as to how? I would remover the brace completely. being careful to ensure, all, the old silicone is removed then re-attach the brace.

could you give me an idea
what the size is of the tank
H X D X W and has it got length
braces in it i have a funny feeling
it will be 6mm class you might be able
to drain it down so you can still keep it
running i have done this in the past as a running
repair you need to get the silicone that can be used
under water and will cure under water you can get
both surfaces need to be cleaned of and wiped down
with isopropyl alcohol you will also need some strong
spring loaded clips like clothes pegs to hold once
it as been siliconed in to place iu have put a link
up for the type of silicone you need hope this helps
