Can You Really Tell The Difference? Calling All Rio Owners!

okay no problem, i find the lighting on the rio's to be poor tbh, they are deeper than my rekord and despite having t5's the light struggles to pierce the depth of the tank.

my old 125 didnt, and i hated it so i sold it and got the 120.

ill buy reflectors and if i really have to ill upgrade i will. but im going for the rio 125 or 180 because its not too long
and instead of the 120 i can go higher and slightly wider but maintaining the length and gain 60 litres

can get reflectors for rio 125 easily and cheaply! no worries!

i have a rio 125l its great!

do you find the lights any good loubega? what do you grow in there because your tank looks great, what do you keep in their? and is that sand?

is there anyone that has owned both the 125 and 180? is the difference marginal or massive? the mother wants to know if it will look much bigger than the 125

Mainly it's the length if anything will be noticed, and I think they're high prices for a 125 and a 180.
My 125 cost me £190 complete set-up and cabinet, and my Rio300 cost me £286 complete set-up and cabinet.

One rule is to buy big not too big when you first come into fish keeping and a 180 is the perfect starter size, as you've already started with a Rekord 60, you gone down a step. Just mention how nice it'll look. Tell her the price from Juwel.co.uk for the Rio180 complete set-up with cabinet aswell, I;m sure that'll make her consider it more.

Also say if you get the 125 and not the 180 you may have the craving to buy the 180 at a later date, and they might've gone back up in price.

price is out the question really because i get a 20% discount on top of the £200 or the £260 as i work at the shop. i mean 5 cm width isnt noticable is it? and 20cm on the end cant hurt?

i just need someone who has had both to be able to tell me if the difference is VERY noticable as my mother says she doesnt want an aquarium for a house

just say they must've given you the wrong one, dont show her the receipt and say they dont do re-funds or take backs :) and get the 180

well the 20cms on the end will be a bit longer than the horridblack filter. just imagine sticking another on the side and a tiny bit more. its not really noticeable and once the tank has decor it will look fine.

My advice as a mother...DO NOT LIE!!! It's not worth never being trusted again! Has Mom seen a really well planned tank. I consider a well done tank to be much more interesting than a piece of furniture. In fact, It's a piece of living furniture!

touchwood, i should be okay, ill do they persausive sweet talking tonight , this is my plan i will load her mind with everything i know about fish and there specific requirements etc, and she is always saying when we go to the LFS cant you get anything bigger than 2 inches, and i say yes when you let me have a bigger tank... so ill bring that up.

but at the end of the day if she says no itll have to be the 125. but ill take her to a shop where they have the 125 and the 180 side by side

could also show her a really nice fish that would be too small for the 125 but perfect for the 180 :)
