Can I Cut Jumbo Sponges To Fit Standard Size

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty sure i know the answer to this but i just want to make sure.

I have accidently bought juwel jumbo filter sponges for my aquarium but i've just realised i needed standard size sponges

Can i simply cut these to the required sizes using a stanley knife or should i buy the appropriate size sponges

Of course you can cut them up but it will be harder to return them to get the right size that way.
