I am giving one of my girls to my grand parents. I do not have much time for my betta fish anymore so I decided I will give one to them:)

Do they actually want it?

I wouldn't want to push my past hobbies on someone else...

They have been asking a fish from me for many months. So they are taking Ramsy in September and there friend might take one too.

I have been getting really busy lately and I am keeping all my girls till September. The friends fish are for 2 weeks and please do not start a fight socalmom.

I wasnt starting a fight... :)

I'm just tired of seeing all the "New bird" "New rabbits" "Watching friends fish" then "Giving away fish because of not enough time" threads

You go in circles and it gets confusing. Either you have enough time and money or you dont

gotta agree :good:

i really really don't get it. Everyone is always on FBT's back coz of the amount of pets she has and how she can't afford look after them.
To me it now looks as if she is taking what people are saying to her on board. Ok so she's looking after a friends fish for 2 weeks. thats 2 weeks people not for life. I also thinks it takes a very strong person to admit that she can't look after her fish. And to give away something that you have grown to love you have to be a strong person.

I think this is the time we start to praise her for accepting her responsebilities and is sending her fish to someone who she thinks will look after the needs of the it.

it must be hard to give up something you have grown to love, but you are being the bigger, better person by admitting it is difficult and doing what you can to help your situation

xXx

fbtgirl, it's great that you are realizing that you don't have enough time to contribute to your fish. and that perhaps, they belong with others who do have the time.

just as if they were your children, you want to make sure that the fishes new parents are suitable and are able to care for them.

for example, do your grandparents know the difference between filtered and non-filtered tanks and why the betta could live in both but optimally, a filtered tank is best for them?

do they know about the need to do frequent water changes because of waste and bacteria?

do they know what chemicals and food they will need to take care of your fish and water?

do they know what the best water temperature is, what ph, nitrate, nitrite, and ammonium levels/readings are suitable for the water? will they have a water test kit?

do they know they are not to mix the girls with other fish?

etc.
etc.
etc.

maybe you can buy them a betta book to go along with your new child to them.

who ever ends up with your fish needs not only time and money to be a good pet owner, but also the knowledge and will to learn about their new pet.

good luck.

They are simple owners and do not get into that stuff. But there last Betta lived for almost four years so they cant be all that bad:) I would not worry about them. I might give there friend Crimpson. But it is not a deffinet yet.

Its not just the fact I have a lot of animals you guys. I need to do stuff around the house and I am starting school in a few weeks! I have to much on my plate.

If you have too much on your plate, then why are you buying more fish?

I thibnk socalmom is out of orderbarracading all of FBTgirl's topics with negative and upsetting replies towards FBTgirl and I think it would be better if socalmom stays away from FBTgirl's topics just a suggestion though :/

 No effense but that is what starts up a fight l.michelle. I bought more fish because I plan to start breeding and selling guppies later on. The Appple snails are because they help clean my tank.
