Today i went to check on my fish tank and discovered one of my uarus had been beaten half to death, fins ripped, scales missing, part of his lip ripped off. I had known that my pair of uarus had not been getting along for a few weeks now but there was nothing serious happening, with a heavy heart i took the decision to take the dominant Uaru back to the fish store, was totally gutted as i have had the m for 2 Years and grew them from babies, but if i had kept them together the other Uaru would have been dead in a matter of days.

so sorry it ended this way for you but the dempsey is cute, and the severum is gorgeous.

Thanks for the comments, this has not put me off the uaru species and i am trying to track down a couple of Uaru fernandezyepezi's right now :D

Lovely fish you've got. Sorry about the uaru :/ What is the gold/red fish? He's beautiful!

Are all those fish in the same tank?

Did you see who did the damage?

Crayfish are notorious for attacking fish in the night...if you didn't see who did the damage,I'd lay odds that it was him..not the other fish.

And I have to say...a bgk in a tank with a crayfish and jack is a very foolish idea.Your bgk not only will not thrive ,but will probably be killed.

Beautiful fish...but,deadly combination.

Thanks for the comments blue ice. I did see the damage geting done, that was why i took the Uaru back. The crayfish is 3" and is only in that tank while i raise my severum fry in my other 50 UK Gal Tank, the Jack Dempsey will also be moved to here. I have ordered a 150Gl tank which my severums and Uarus will got into leaving the BGK to his own tank and hopefully get him/her a mate. I know it might look like a foolish idea keeping these fish together but this is a short term fix the Crayfish will be back in his normal tank in 2 weeks once i sell the baby severums along with the Jack D. Any sign of my fish being in distress i would quickly deal with as the fishes happiness is my first priority. :D

Thanks

Chris
