How do i go about buffering KH?

I have a very soft KH and recently suffered a PH plummet im told as the KH being so low couldnt keep the PH up? Is it right that if i add crushed shells in my filter it can boost it up to hold the PH stable?

Im going to order CO2 equipment later, but worried it will increase the PH dive?

Hi skinbad, i use this product both in my external filter and a handful spead throughout my tank because i too live in an area of very soft water...

It very slowly dissolves over time, keeping my PH at a comfortable 7.2 - 7.6.
