Hi all,

I am wondering what is the best temp range for the Buenos Aires Tetra ?
I read from 'aquatics to your door' its between 18-28 c
What would be the best/ideal temp?

Thanks

I think of these as being temperate fish, so I would want to keep the temp between 18C and 23C for most of the year (lower the better), allowing a brief high end tropical period for say a couple of months each year towards 28C, depending upon what you housed them with.

Pretty active so need a 3-foot tank at the very least, a reputation for munching plants, a reputation for nipping if not kept in good numbers (ideally 10+, a bit like Tiger Barbs).

I keep mine at 76 with no issues. But as said above, they're nippy little monsters. Worse than tiger barbs ime.

Thanks for your replies, probs wont get them if they are very nippy, wouldnt want any of my current fish to get injured!

Their boisterous behavior had all my other fish hiding in the past, and they rip up plants. Not a good community fish IMO

How bout Cherry Barbs? Did some research and..I read that Cherry Barbs are peaceful community fish, can mix with a variety of others, ideal temp 22 - 26 c and tank bred except a variety of water parameters..

Cherry barbs would be good. Just make sure not to keep them with fish large enough to eat them
