Hello All,

Ok so i have had these "stains" on my tank for a few weeks now, my tank is 160L and is around 6 months old, my lights on on for around 12 hours a day, i use a fluval 205 external filter, i thought to begin with that these stains were brown algae, but now i am not so sure.... they are very hard to rub off, i have to use a lot of force with a cleaning pad to remove them, and they come back within a few days, i have a few plants in the tank and various fish including an orange spotted plec, gourami, neon tetra, 2 mollies and 3 shrimp, 1 of the shrimp has lots of green eggs inside her, i began to think these stains, some of them green, could be the eggs? but then why are they all over the sides of the tank? anyway i have taken a few photos to show the marks, any help greatly appreciated

Also the tank is an Aquaone AR 850, anything else you need to know just ask :)

Ah i had thought that, is 6 months still considered a new tank then i guess? Shouldnt it just clean off quite easily, i have to use full force to scrub them off rather than wipe them off, is 12 hours too long with the light setup on the ar 850?

Thankyou for the reply, i will turn the lights down to 8 hours and see what happens then, will also give it a good clean in a few days, many thanks
