Breeding Tropical Fish, And Tips Or Advice?

I want to start breeding tropical fish, want to start with something relatively simple, and small, something that wont take up the whole house with tanks. Also, can anyone tell me how I go about breeding them? Any help would be great!

Hi josh, livebearers are very easy to breed but they will breed lots. You could try guppys as they are small, all you need to do is put males and female in a tank and they should handle the rest.

Yes I think livebearers would be a good place to start. I'm new to fish keeping and have only livebearers in my tank (apart from 3 catfish). I've had x2 lots of Endler fry since December and lots of my mollys and platys are now pregnant and not far of dropping their new babies!

I've found keeping fry in my main tank pretty un-successful I've tried to make as many hiding spaces and thick plants for cover, but most if not all are eaten by the time they would be big enough to fend for themselves. This isn't too bad if you don't want to be overrun in fish. I'm currently setting up a nursery tank so I can grown my fry on and introduce them into my main tank when they have a bit more size.

Okay, thanks! Also, do you know if you need any special licence to sell them to pet shops? Just incase I ended up with too many.

Livebearers(guppies,platies,endlers,mollies etc) are the easiest to breed and apart from adding them to a tank and doing weekly maintainance,they will just breed quite merrily,but eventually you may become overloaded with them,has they will regularly drop each month or so...

I personally like breeding corys,when they spawn you save the eggs and then rear them once hatched in a separate tank,but they can be time consuming.

Or try breeding something you fancy,maybe a pair of kribs or maybe bubble nest breeders like bettas or dwarf gourami's etc.

How can I breed bettas (this is siamese fighter fish isn't ir?)? I do really like these fish , and how to breed them would be great!

i have a wild type betta that mouthbroods (Betta Falx) i've had them about a month and this will be there 3rd lot of fry (i have 2 pairs) i have them in a community with cories, i see them spawning then i remove the Male just before he spits the fry out into a small 3gal tank
