Breeding Fish?

Soon, my 29gal is gonna be empty. Most of my fish died these past three months 'cause of a rly bad case of ich.(I was gone for the weekend, i never knew. nor did the person taking care of my fish.)
So, breeding fish seems more enjoyable and rewarding IN MY OPINION. So, when I do have my 29gal empty. (i'll sell the rest of the fishes, / give them away to my friends ) what fish would be suitable to breed in a 29gal?

Most easiest? <- please, no livebearers as I do not want a whole colony appearing every morning
Would any parenting cichlid work with my 29gal?
Shoals, are good. (large numbers work too.)

Cichlids can be expensive to trial and error breeding with. Not only do they need space to breed and be territorial over, but the large numbers of fry (which will grow big and fast) need lots of space and their own tank for growing out in.

I have been having fun spawning tetras. You can keep a community tank of lots of different types of tetra and simply whisk out the females you want to breed, then the males you want to breed and get eggs to hatch. (not quite as simple as that by this is for illustration only). Some are easy - some are harder - and its fun getting it to work.

The fry tank can still be small, and doesnt need any decoration and barely any maintainance.

angelfish are pretty easy to breed i hear..
i have angels and they lay eggs every month or so but are in a community tank so they get stressed out and nibble on them

...do you make them toasty soldiers to have with their eggs? (sorry - couldnt resist!)
