OOh just had another thought.

What about a whole load of bumble bee gobys??!!

That would be amazing!

yep, sounds like a plan as long as they dont need plants. this will have a marine/cichlid look to it. you know rocks and bubbles no jungle for this one.

i'm not sure what bumble bee goby's need?

I'd go for a cichlid tank mate..

pseud: :p we'll see, new ground being covered here so could end up with a crappy mess....... fingers crossed.

cichlids are winning at the moment although i need to learn a lot before taking the plunge...

Would be nice as a Discus tank.

nah, i'd put discus in my 40G (sig pic) if i were to go that direction. too much hassle though and to be honest i dont really like the look of them.

hats off to all discus owners though, you have my respect i just dont fancy all the ro water etc... (KH 14 from the tap)

thanks for the thought.

Bumblebee gobies are eventually brackish though, even though they start off freshwater. Thee is an FW species of BBG, but if you find it, let me know ;)

For a 2 foot cube tank, Dojo Loaches would be awesome. We've got a pair in our 45g and they're a small bioload and such a massive character it's unreal. They look like seals (in a way) and they sort of sit up on their pectoral fins and look around like a dog at times. They have individual personalities too, one always plays in the bubbles while another likes to hide in the plants. They're very different, and it's easy to tell them apart from personality alone.

If you're not sold on that, I'd reckon a single dwarf puffer might be an interesting fella for a big tank if you're not keen on planting, or maybe an interesting invertebrate like a FW lobster or something like that.

okay gobies out then, thanks for that.
going off the puffer idea i'm afraid probably too small for the look i'm going for.

now a blue lobster, yes that would be my choice but the misses doesn't fancy getting up for a wee in the night with one of those staring at her through the moonlights... cant understand the problem myself i think theyre lovely docile pretty little things..... er tried that, didn't work. (she could always sleep in the lounge, i dont care)

Give the missus a bed pan and tell her to stop whining!

What about a terrapin? or crab?

yep i'm all for that kind of thing but oh no, misses gets "busy" again. apparently fish or nothing. hmmm i'll keep chipping away.

bed pan  love it

Well, If i could help you out at all, I would. But I probably know as much as you do - next to nothing!

I do have a pair of German Blue Rams, they're my favorite fish at the moment.
