Three things wrong here! One this should have been posted in the brackish section. Two taking sand from a beach is illegal. Three even if it wasn't or you don't really care I wouldn't use it because you don't know what is in it. Go to Lowes and buy you a bag of play sand. You can get a 50 pound bag for three something! :good:

why do people think that paly sand is any different from beach sand? after you've rinsed the beach sand to remove any "dusty" particulates, add some bleach (@ 10parts water/1 part bleach)...swirl it around a while. rinse rinse rinse, then add dechlor...rinse repeat....most liekly better sterilized than "play sand" is.

Let me tell you why its different. Play sand is made bagged and shipped out. Beach sand is on a beach so you have no idea what is living in it what has been spilled on it etc. So why would you want to take a risk and use it. Plus its illegal to take sand from a beach. Imagine if everyone took sand from a beach, there would be no more sand. If you can't afford to go buy a bag of sand for 3 bucks then your in the wrong hobby and you need to get out.
