Bought a 125 Gall takn 72x18x22 today for $420 new with tank, stand and glass top. It's going to be the future home of my oscar and Bala Sharks. Maybe my clown loaches but not sure.

Time to do some shopping on Big Als online

I'm thinking
2 x Cascade 1200 power filters (315gph)
2 x Titanium tube 300w heaters
2 x coralife freshwater 96w 36" strip lights

The one thing I'm not sure about though is how much sand I'll need for the bottom. I don't know how many pounds I'll need for a 6 foot long tank.

Decided on the 125 since the 150 was another 150 dollars for 25 more gallons and the 180 was twice the price.

No idea about the sand I'm afraid, but.... Wow, nice tank!

I hope to upgrade to one that sort of size in the next year, although my girlffriend is far from keen on the idea.

When I bought our current tank (180 litres), I didn't tell what size we were getting and made sure it was full of water by the time she got home and it was too late to take it back!

Not too late to moan though.

Why are you going with cascade filters?
Not criticiseing jsut wandering they aren't very popular filters compared to fluval rena or ehiem

I've got a Fluval 304 on my 46 Bow.
I decided to try out cascade on my 54 bow it's a cascade 700 and it keeps that tank pristine. I chose them because in the event that I need to locally aquire filter media(instead of ordering on the net) my local petco sells cascade and stocks media for it.

Plus compared to eheim the price is right(good or not I think eheim is WAY overpriced)

I would buy another Fluval except I HATE HATE HATE the way you have to prime them. The cascade you just open the valves press the prime button once or twice and let it fill itself a min or two later turn it on and go. I was going to try a rena XP3 except the only place I'd be able to buy media is the internet.

Media should fit in any cannister filter, the brand won't necesarily make a difference, but if you can't find parts for something localy when it goes that's a problem I have a 403 that's brocken it's quick connects three times, imeller once, and impeller cover once, + only filter on the mbuna tank really makes you freak out

I agree on the ehiems as good as they say they are I don't think I could ever justify the price

You in canada?
