Blanket weed...help

I have a friend who is having terrable trouble with blanket weed in his pond, he says he has tried twisting it out with a stick, straw and algae pads....but nothing has helped....He doesnt want to use chemicals of any kind....so can anyone think of anything else he can do.......

When blanket weed is about it tends to mean that the light levels and Nitrate levels are to high, I wouldn't recommend any chemicals yet. What fish are in the pond? Is it filtered? If so does the filter box contain a UV light.

just starting to get blanket weed in my pond but i keep sturgeon so
it must be removed ASAP
new barley straw new algae pad and a chemical should keep on top of it
it did last summer.
