Just wondering what the largest size tank a Betta would be OK in? I know too large a tank they can feel insecure, but what size are we talking?

I am watching several local tanks on ebay, in the hope of getting a better tank for him. Would also like to put some Corys or something in with him, and maybe a small shoal of small fish like the small Rainbowfish i.e. Blue Eyes.

Would an 80L be too big?

BethK has hers in a Rio 125 i'm sure of it, although i think she has like 9 females in with her male.

Thats exactly what i want to do! :good:

I think bettas can be fine in larger tanks, as long as there are places where he can get away from any strong filter current. Planting the tank well will help him feel more secure, as well as caves and hiding places. I think oldman47 has a betta in a much larger tank than 80L and the fish has lived many years.

Its a load of rubbish that bettas dont like big tanks aslong as theres cover and hiding places they will do fine in huge tanks. The bigger the better IMO. I think 80l will be perfect.

Although, I wouldn't advise to place a male with females and I defo wouldn't do it in anything smaller than 125...........he's getting old and living out his days with a load of women, now to many that would be heaven or hell

Nothing is too big, ensure you have the tank planted, different levels of height, a few hiding places and he/she will be fine. BTW, 80ltrs is absolutely fine :good:

Was my 60ltr

Keep a betta occupied, they like to scavenge too, so they will be in and out of everything

Thanks, well I am watching a 60L at the moment. Hopefully no one else will bid as I am not paying higher than the price it's at at the mo.
Hopefully I'll get it :good:

I would never try to keep a betta in a tank bigger than about 1000 gallons. I would never be able to find it in there.

 No fear there!

I didn't get the tank on ebay in the end, went for too much money/overpriced.

Got a new tank for him today, a 45L Clear Seal with a hood and condensation tray. Got the filter, light etc already to go in. Had to put another external filter on my big tank today, so Sherbert's tank should be getting sorted tomorrow. All my live plants except the Anubias on wood is going in here, as my Sevs are eating them (to be expected  )
