Biggest Comunity Cichlid

Hi, what's the biggest SA cichlid you could safely keep with community fish such as tetras without them being dinner?

How many tetras do you have? how big is the tank?

its more of a general question as I cant think of a cichlid bigger than one of the apistos or rams that wouldn't eventually eat or harm tetras but my current tank with a SA set up is 40 gallons and has 16 cardinals and 8 rummy nose.
 
It seems that community SA set ups have fish around 1-2 inch's with little variation in size where as an Asian or Australian set up has much more varied size and shape options in a community set up.

I have keyhole ciclids. You may want to research them. They seem to be very peaceful, in my experience. Mine are only about 3" but are supposed to reach 6". I think they grow very slowly.

what about red head tapajos

Discus maybe. They can get big but still have a little mouth compared to make Cichlids. I have a 4 inch blue Acara that hunted and ate all of my Serpae tetras. Angle fish are good as long as the tetras are full grown and fast.
