Bichir Pics?

i cant find any recent pics. i must not have put them on the comp. im still looking though.

a close up of my sen. before i moved from my appartment. hes about 5" here. my ropefish is in the back.


this is a group shot. my xingu I who is now 7". a couple sens. the back end of my ropefish, and some clams.

I know you are saying that its not a hybrid, but have a little look at this, these are hybrids and it looks really similar to your Ornate. (which is stunning btw)

Without knowing the specifics of the pictured hybrids...I'd say they look like a cross between one of the P. endlicheri subspecies and P. ornatipinnis. There are, however, some very evident differences between the hybrids and a typical P. ornatipinnis. If you look carefully at the pictures of the hybrids versus the P. ornatipinnis you'll see that the origin of the first dorsal finlet is relatively far back on the P. ornatipinnis whereas the first dorsal finlet on the hybrids is located forward of the mid-body (like their probable P. endlicheri parent). Also note that the hybrids all have more dorsal finlets than does the P. ornatipinnis. Finally, the head on the hybrids is a bit more flattened (especially in the last picture) than is typical for the 'upper-jawed' P. ornatipinnis.

Yip , i noticed the fin placements, just interesting with the colourations etc....very attractve fish non the less :)
