Shes a lovely 18 month old Boa who I think is a real sweetie

She is so inquisitive and comes to the glass of her viv when I;m near it and never gives any hassle when being handled by me or my daughter

Can;t wait till shes bigger she;ll be stinning

a female it was still called
Monty it used to eat whole
chickens feathers and all

I used to have a Royal Python; her name was Pineapple :)

My ex gave her away when we split up

My son is nagging me to get another one!

Had a Royal myself was my first snake but sold him in July as had to make a choice between boa and python and it was a no brainer for me as shes active and personable wheras the python was always in a ball hence the name ha

what a gem  She is truly stunning. The other half has said a big resounding "NO" to snakes

oh well...I will live vicariously through you!

so did mine so when we didn;t speak for a few weeks once I bought my python and she has just learnt to accept them

To be honest they are the easiest pet, easy to clean feed and water, cheap to keep and your other half need not see it. I don;t put Betty in my wifes face and every now and then she;ll pay an interest. Kids love her as well

I;d love a tiger reticulated python, stunning snakes but so large

I viewed this thread with trepidation, I know, i'm sorry, but i'm a big girls blouse when it comes to snakes and so was astonished to see in the first photo a two headed snake :p

So, my question is why, oh why, do people want to keep snakes..........what is the attraction?

I prefer my snake to the lizard I keep. I can;t explain it but I have become really attached to her, shes easy to handle and when I go to look in at her she comes to the glass and is very inquisitive. Probably because she is hungry!!!
I;m so looking forward to her getting bigger!!!

Stunning :good:
Ive always wanted a snake but cant convince my mum. I would love an blue eyed royal python but at over £1000 i think ill have to give them a miss

Its because they are so pretty. Their movements also seem kinda memorizing too me. I've only been allowed to keep wild garter snakes short term before I let them go again. I have I video from when I was in the boundary waters I fed wild garter some bait worms. Literally was able to lure one to my hands since he was looking for more food. I feed them then I catch and play with them for a while. Consider it payment . Then I can terrorize my fellow campers. One of the reasons I have the two caecilians is because I can't have a snake.

Because they're beautiful and fascinating creatures :)

On a sort of side note; I personally find it odd that people dislike certain animals or think they're 'ugly' (yes, Carlovel; I'm looking at you with your attitude to male BNs ;) ). All these animals have been evolving for millions and millions of years into the amazing creatures we see today and I think that's incredible.

They're all beautiful in their own way because, whatever we might think, they are perfectly adapted to their own individual enviroments and lifestyles. 'Ugliness' is a totally subjective thing; it's to do with our perception not really anything intrinsic in the animal itself. They look the way they do for very good reasons of survival.

I don't find any living thing 'ugly'; I reserve that term for things like greed, or bigotry; those are ugly things :)

Well, that's my two pence worth on the subject anyway!

Its not that I don't like BN males but they are unattractive, and IMO creepy.  :shout:
