Oh no that was an acrylic transport tank just for breeding. The tank that the top photo was taken in is the one loubega will be using for his betta - the 13l

Sorry to burst your bubble but 13litres is less than 3 gallons. You are not going to be able to have six pygmy corys in there long term with a betta. You MIGHT get three and a betta, but you will have to be changing the water, non stop. Wrapping mature media into the filter will work to cycle it, it doesn't take much to cycle small tanks. Usually if you can dig up enough mature media so that half of the media in the filter is old, you cycle it instantly.

yea i know its not 3 gallons, its about 2.8 gallons, but with the gravel in there is obviously less. Im not going to get anything else in there it yet. Maybe in a few weeks i may consider a few shrimps but reckon the betta will eat them.

Wrapped my mature media round the sponge filter and then added another bit to wedge behind the filter as well , added my betta yesterday, he looks great and settled in fine... gonna add some pics later on

could anybody tell me what colouration the male is above? is he a mustard sort of colour?

He would be classed as a Camodian as he has the flesh coloured body with coloured fins. He looks like he may have very slight marbling in him. To be a mustard gas the ventrils would need to be the mustard colour which his aren't :good:

You could just use a clip on desk lamp from Wilkinsons or something like that. Just don't use a 60w or 100w bulb though.

The mixed bunches in Mango's tank have strands of Camboba, Elodea and a couple of other common aquatic plants I'm not sure of the name of. Nothing fancy but he enjoys them.

awesome was thinking about a cheap lamp....i was thinking about perhaps a java fern then maybe a floaty plant that can provide a bit of shade and cover but not totally inihibt all light...

also food.....what do you feed on a daily basis? any specific brands or treats..etc...

very pretty ,, i feed 5 attisons beta pelets a day and no food on sundays,, once a mont5h or so i skip i pelete feeding and give them blood worms 3 to 4 per fish ,, as a treat.. much more indepth if breeding but for non breeders not so much, and too much protene righ food can get them constipated.
