Best Testing Kit

Hi all

What is the best testing kit to buy in terms of the range of tests it conducts and value for money?

What brands are recommended?

Saliferts would by far be the most accurate and competitively priced, though there are more steps involved with them in most kits but this pays in the long run as they're considerably more accurate than the API, Hagen brands etc. The saliferts are all packaged individually, you'll need the Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and the PH kit.

I would reccommend the API Freshwater Master Test Kit for around £20 - last forever and is pretty thorough and accurate. It will do x 2 tests for your PH, and also test your ammonia, nitrite and nitrates. You can get a good deal if you look around on ebay.

Thanks very much, I shall keep my eyes peeled for Saliferts. Pleased I asked as I have not heard of this brand before so would have probably wrongy dismissed it.

I use API too, couldn't tell you whether It is accurate or not. But I have found a correlation between supposedly low ammonia and nitrites readings with not losing fish
I think you'd need to compare it with many other kits to find it's accuracy
