hi all... i just started hitting the freeways in los angeles looking for good freshwater fish/plant stores, and these are my top three - looking for others that anyone thinks highly of, i'd appreciate it and probably others on this board from l.a.!
1) scale's and tails - Burbank. very clean store, good fish supply, but the best maintained freshwater store i've been to, and very knowledgable staff as well.
2) jim's exotic fish - El Segundo. probably the biggest freshwater store i've seen, at least the biggest at the quality level i'm looking for. again, very knowledgable staff, although jim might know a little too much and can be overly aggressive about his theories on plant care. some might like that, however. they could carry more plants maybe.
3) aquarium center - sherman oaks. the best place i've found for plants, although they sell very fast and shipments come in on fridays. if you don't go friday or on the weekend, you might see some decimated plants. they get nice ones in, but i don't think they have their chemistry worked out b/c alot of them seem to wilt.
any others? pasadena tropical fish almost made the list, as well as aquarium center in canoga park, but they are of comparable quality - more like a B to scale's A.
