Do bettas have favourite resting/napping places generally speaking? Mine seems to love resting on his log under the little plant thats attached to it or on the suckers that hold the heater to the tank. Is this normal, might he be cold?

I also have one of those feathery, silk aquaone plants for him and he seem to like rubbing up against it vertically mostly facing downwards....kinda looks like he's getting jiggy with the plant :hey:

I swear I spend far to much time gazing at him and I'm already looking round my very small home for a little nook where I could put another betta tank!!

My betta likes to rest either under his bridge, or on top of it, he gets in all sorts of weird positions and locations. Also...I probably spend about as much time looking at my fish as you do haha. I look at him at least once an hour. :shifty: I also want another betta! I'm waiting until I get my new apartment though, because I convinced my mom to buy one + accoutrements as an apartment warming gift. :p

Funny little fellas aren't they and busy too, I can't believe a fish can have so much character. Also if you'd told me a couple of weeks ago I'd be so into a fish I would've laughed in your face....very addictive. I will find away to get another eventually I know it!!! Sounds like you could be on the way to converting your mum too, well done. Either that or you just know how to get your own way, us girls usually do! lol ^_^

My boy Strudel used to have a couple of places to sleep and you could almost guarantee he be there by 10.00pm every night and no amount of coaxing could lure him out lol

Here was his main home

And under the IAL was his other one.

I have a female and a male (not in the same tank). My little female always rests behind her fake bamboo stalk, right up at the top where it has some little silk leaves. She has other hidey places near the bottom but prefers to chill out at the top of the bamboo.

My male usually gets nestled into his plant.

So cute

*I don't have heaters for either of them, as we live in a warm climate. Their tanks stay between 76 and 78 degrees F.

Wow thanks for all the replies/pics, need batteries for my camera but will post some soon. I'm so happy he seems to be displaying normal happy behaviour. I haven't got a name yet. Any ideas? He's all red and velvety, quite ordinary compared to some of the bettas on here, but I love him just the same.

HAHA - some pretty funny characters these guys are!!!

I have one that likes to drape himself over his moss ball and another that likes to rest on a flat rock under an anubius leaf - almost looks like he is at the beach laying under an umbrella! :)

Mine wouldn't even breed without his stick! He sleeps in it and it makes him look like a dragon. he freaks out without it!

My male is like albert's clone only mine has a blue dot about 3mm long on his forehead.

My boys love to rest anywhere they please. Ramjet my VTs favourite spot is on top of the heater or under the filter. Shimmer my PKs favourite spot is head down buried in the furry silk plants. He loves it in there.

They really are entertaining! It really does look like he's lounging at the beach. He's also quite taken by his hollow log now and looks really cute with just his head poking out the end.
