Begining Of 15L Nano Planted Blog

Ahhh thank you! Some readjustment called for I think!

tested out the CO2 setup today, and after a bit of trial and error, appears to be working :D

The drop checker I have is HUGE! didn't realise until I jsut unpacked it, will definately be after a less obtrusive model!

Right, i'm off to adjust the spray bar so!

also the current needs to be hitting the diffuser, rather than the C02 going straight out of the top of the water, it needs to be diffused all around the tank. You'll have to have a move about of the diffuser, it does take a while to find the best diffusion areas in the tank.

Thanks :D

I've solved the problem for me (I think, for now) until i get back from work.

I drilled more holes in the spray bar, lessening the pressure, and getting more folow, the flow now hits the column of CO2 coming out the diffuser, and swirls it around the tank.

I think its OK, because one of the plants has started pearling :D

Glad the regulator i pointed you to works ok! Always a worry with 2nd hand stuff. Got a nice setup there on the cheap :)

Cheers Tizer! Yep, if you hadn't of shown me that, I probably would never have done it! ;P

Alltogether its cost about...

£170, which isn't tooo bad, and forces me to be patient from now on! :p

Looks awesome! Im doing the same sorta thing get my shrimp tommorow! My thread is here My nano planted tank

What sort of co2levels are you running on such a small tank? Mine is only 14L so could go. The same way with mine, i also have reservations about the light with my tank lol
Any updates?
Matt

Hi there, :)

Currently running at about 3 bubbles a second... not having any luck with drop checker (I've tried, 4dKH water [commercial and made up], deionised, distilled and even tank water [as the instructions suggest] nothing works, it won't change from blue). I don't want to turn up the CO2 any more!!

The plants are doing fine, still battling with fungi.. have introduced an experimental snail to try and hoover it up as syphoning isn't working.

I'm looking at buying an inline CO2 diffuser come pay day, this should improve things... I will also be lowering the level of the spray bar too to increase circulation.

Then its introducing moss to the wood, and in a few weeks (I hope) cherry shrimp!

More pics soon.

The tank after a minor hardscape change, plenty pf plant growth, dropped the spray bar down a few inches, and as ammonia is now 0 (and the test snail didn'y die after a week), have just added 2 ghost/glass shrimp to clear the algae (man can these guys shift!!).

I can't wait to get hold of the inline co2 diffuser and a glass 'hangon' type drop checker :)

Cheers!

Any updates mate? Looking forward to seeing some! This may well be my project for today... if you are still struggling with the algae try and source some baby bristlenoses. The younger the better, these will soon clean it up. Then when they're bigger you can flog them on and get some more!!

Cheers! :D

things are still in the 'grubby' stage at the minute.

Am just about to finally purchase an inline diffuser too.
