Lots of regular water changes will clear the water of tannins, but could take a long time.
I've had a piece soaking in a bucket for about 6 weeks now & it's still leeching colour

cheers guys :) well i got carbon in there at the moment will do a water change again fri ive got a external filter 1400L/H so hopfully clear up fast, but would i need to change the eliments offten to help?

the tank looks much better for the revamp well done :good:

stick some carbon in the external and it will clear overnight. dont listen to people that say carbon only lasts a week and then starts leaching things back into the tank as this is rubbish. once added leave it there until the water starts to stain again and i promise you it will be months and months

i had a big piece of wood once that leached tannins after 3 years of being in water so dont expect a few water changes to sort it out. if you dont like the tanned look then carbon is your friend :good:

its 100% better m8, that blue substrate was well over the top
what substrate are you using now ?

cheers

well done for removing that awful blue 'gravel'!

I'd add a solid black background (or paint the outside of the glass) and add some nice tall plants like vallis

cheers guys yes i want some tall plants ,its that roman black gravel its like sand looks really good :good: just having trouble with tannins coming from the bogwood need,

Lots of water changes it will clear, infact I've Sean some planted tanks that look really good with tanning in the water

Tannins are great for most fish so don't get too ate up by removing them. Water changes will help as will the carbon in the filter, but it will be an ongoing thing to remove them. I had a piece that leeched for a year or so, but I liked it.

Great job on the rescape too, cracking job, well done.

So so much better than the blue gravel. Much more natural lookin. Think the coloured gravel really only works in tiny we tanks for kids. But as above, a background would finish the tank off nicely. As good as all the wires and your funky curtain looks :)

Good job though! Crackin tank
