We have one of these at work, ours contains small Tetra's none will get bigger than 2 inches and this is clearly stated on the tank, any stray fish that find themselves in odd tanks end up in there.

In this one they had a chinese algae eater, few random tetras, pretty sure a barb in there too. they were lettin kids fish out what they wanted!!

My lfs has one, it is just full of guppy, Mollie, Swordtale, ect fry i think they are ones that have been droped in the tanks and they just move them.

I worry abt this shop. they sold me a syno tellin me it would not grow bigger than 3" (i was a beginner and naive). believe me her got bigger. they guy also nearly killed a fish in front of me. he was gettin me some gupps, put them in the bag and handed them to me, took the net out of the tank and started chatin. i had to politely say " do you know theres a siamese fighter still in that net"

As to fish shops telling you wrong sizes, thats pretty normal stuff, cos they want to sell sell sell..Unless either you lucky to find a independant good fish shop, or a worker who cares

LOL, to be honest with the way I've seen some of the lfs employees catch fish, the kiddies can't get much worse! This reminds me of the $1.00 surprise "grab" bags they used to sell at my neighbourhood convenience store; you never know what you're going to get lol.

Is Peter Barrets a good place to buy fish?? I have never been but sure I have read on here somewhere that it isn't so good??

peter barrats has always varied for me. with both the staff and fish. one day i will go in and the tanks all look great, and fish all look healthy and the staff are really informative. next week i go in and they all look half dead and the staff don't know anything. i have a family member who works in a pet shop and they say it is bad. soppose with every store you have to look at all the tanks and the general look of the fish before you choose to buy. and with things like buying a new kind of fish i'd now always reccomend coming on here first to get info/opinions. i'm still a bit sour about them sellin me a catfish that they said would only grow 3 inches and be a good community fish. he was completely the opposite!

do you live in the area sausagewinkle? i have just been to strikes garden centre in stokesley. Their supplier is maidenhead aquatics. They have a great range (only place in teesside where female gupps aren't in quarantine i think) they have female endlers which i have been looking for for ages. the staff are also great and well informed. maybe a tiny bit pricier but i think it is worth it. i have also found tesside koi in stockton very good too. it makes a big difference when the staff know what the're talking about and you can trust them!
