Basic Advice Needed

Just tested the water again today and the results are:

API Ammonia Liquid Test= 0 (slightly darker yellow than the card but in no way green)

API Nitrate Liquid Test = 0

Tetra Test Nitrite Liquid Test = 0.3

We are down to five fish, I found one of the neon tetra's earlier today, One of the other Silver and orange fish which was swimmimming on it's side thursday night is still alive but i'm expecting it to die any day. It's stays in the same position for most of the day and hasn't been eating. Will see if it eats today when I feed them at 6pm.

i just hope now we've got the levels to a reasonable level that we can keep the remaining fish alive and continue the in fish cycle going for atleast 5 more weeks.

If all the fish were to die, what fish would you recommend to continue the fish in cycle that are hardy enough and how many would you recommend? Fingers crossed they will be alright. The 5 remaing bar the one ill one seem to be healthyily swimming and eating.

If you loose all the fish then you should convert to a fishless cycle, no sense in causing stress in more fish. Get some pure ammonia and follow the instructions for fishless cyacle, less stress on you and the fish.

When the cycle is finished you will have an enviroment suitable for happy and healthy fish.

do another water change because although you now have no ammonia your nitrite level is at 0.3 and that is higher than desireable. this will bring the nitrite level down and it will not hinder the cycling process.
