hi barney, sounds hectic. 8 T5s wi refelctors should be plenty!

btw...can you remember where you got the 10 plus extension from?

Ben, I got them from PC world a couple of years ago. They are good because they are like a tower with plug sockets on both sides (so if you have a large plug it doesnt cover two sockets).

Well here are some photos, not great ones as my camera is still packed up at the moment but will give you an idea :)

Tank in place with the help of my nephew (damn its heavy). Just giving it a wipe down.

Final position, just fits (thank god), now just to fill it.

3 days of running the RO unit (on a water meter...) and still not even halfway there.

So off to the LFS to get a "little" more :)

Woohoo we are filled. The return pump in the display kicks out something like 50g a minute so more than enough for mixing the salt :)

Return pump (need som plumbing to get this in soon, probably get it next weekend):

Adding salt, Had as many heaters as I had spare in here to bring it up to temp, still took hours though.

I dont recommend having a power extension tower balanced on a bucket above an open container of salt water:

Everythings in, rock not scaped but its time to go to bed:

Day 2: After an hour trying to scape the rock it looks halfway decent. Have kept it as a low wall across as much of the back as I could cover for now otherwise the tank looks really bare. Put cover over center of cupboard to cover sump, will make a better door for it later.

i just replied to this then my router went ARGH

thanks for the link trod.
Tanks looking good B, fits in with the room. The pics earlier in the thread give you no idea of scale, til you see your old tank contents sat in one corner of the tank!

Thats a beast of a tank Barney  Bet its good to have the stressfull bit of transfering the contents of your old tank done, when we moved house that was by far the worst bit, with the car full of buckets of fish, rock and corals  . Now you just have the fun part of filling it with new goodies :good:

Johnny

Just decided. I'm never going to move

That looked sooooo stressfull.

Bet you're glad its all done :good:

Yeah was very stressful and really glad its all done now. It was made worse by the fact that there was a problem with my light timers and my lights had been on for 2 days at my old place without me knowing it so all the livestock was pretty stressed to begin with. I fully expected to lose some of the corals but by the next day everything was open and looking better than ever. I dont like the scape very much but mainly just have small bits of LR from my previous tanks and was trying to cover as much as possible.

It also didnt help that I used to live in a basement flat so had to carry buckets and containers full of water and livestock up a flight of stairs.

We really need a lot more LR but will just have to live with it for now until things settle down and we have some more spare cash. Going to be a lot of fun putting it together though. I intend to try a few DIY projects with this tank too (skimmers and reactors) so gives me a lot to play with :)

Wow, you're gonna have the tank that close to the couch!?!?

Yeah, the couch will just be moved every time I need to do anything on the tank but it has to be fairly close so we can open and close the kitchen door :) Other then spilling water all over it and the possibility of knocking it into the tank is there another reason it shouldnt be that close?

oh wow, it looks great there and omg that must have been stress city at yours for a good few hours
