Enthusiastic "Re-Beginner"
When I was young I had rosy barbs and still really like the look of them. I did not have 5-6 though and did not then even know the wisdom that minimal shoal sizes can help to reduce aggression in some of the species that have it. I remember my rosy barbs as being a significant problem, being quite aggressive in various ways to other tank inhabitants. My assumption now is that the way to enjoy them is in pretty large tanks where you can have a minimum 6 or more in a shoal, but maybe there are other tricks with who to combine them with...
Tiger barbs I also had and they win the aggression awards hands down... Cherry barbs are a different shape and look of fish and I've not owned them but seen quite a few recently, some in some planted tanks in Greensboro NC which looked terrific, deep red and a wonderful contrast next to the plants.
