Banjo Catfish

Hello,

I spotted some banjo catfish in one of my lfs's this week. They're ugly, but very diffent to most other tropical fish that we keep. Would this fish be suitable to keep in the community tank? I'm thinking about putting a couple in my 200l eventually, it's in my profile with its current stocking.

to be prepared to look for them as
they are masters at hiding

they should be fine, in a community tank. but they really need a fine substrate, sand to be exact. they do live in gravel based tanks. but, often, don't fair well.

Hi there

I've had a banjo catfish for years and years, and they definatly appreciate fine sand sibstrate, they also arent 'great' at competing for food, so make sure they get some (love frozen bloodworm).

Also, when first introduced or if stressed, they will do a massive mucus coat shed, it looks minging, but disperses, just identifyu the cause quickly and they recover nicely.
