Bamboo Shrimp

Just wanted to make sure you tank is big enough for your bamboo shrimp, but your OK :good:

just out of interest what would you say is the minium size just for when i do the betta tank if i can put a b. shrimp with it!

How do you know that they are compatible?? A bamboo does best in about 20+ gallons

well no offfence but if you read my post properly i did say IF i can put a b.shrimp with it!;)

My bad, sorry m8! If you want a healthy betta then I would go for 10G, but if its ok to add a bamboo shrimp then you'll need 20 gallons minimum.

They should be fine as shrimp are a bottom cleaner and often stay out of a bettas way. People have combined ghost shrimp, african dwarf frogs, and have rarely had problems.

Binman, I asked in the betta section and they said it should be ok. You would need a 20 gallon tank for bamboo shrimp though.

I wouldn't advise keeping them together, they really do need completely different habitats in aquariums, betta's do best in warm tropical planted tanks with gentle filtration, while bamboo shrimp do best in sub-tropical highly filtered tanks with strong current and lots of oxygen, with little planting and lots of rocks and driftwood etc.
Also bamboo shrimp really do need an established tank of at least 6months to really thrive and survive in the long term, since these shrimp eat lots of little micro organisms which are only really in great enough numbers in established tanks to help give the shrimp the diet it needs.

If you keep these two animals together, one is always bound to suffer due to inappropriate habitat, so they are best not kept together  .
