Now we've all had this at some stage, but I've never really understood what it is.
Is it the start of the right bacteria (the ones we want) growing? If so, how can there be so many if there's no ammonia source? And why after having that many, can I not have a single fish til it's fully cycled?
Is it the start of bacteria that Infusoria eat? But again, no food source in the tank?
My question really is quite simple, what is the bloom, and how can it happen considering there is no waste in a tank at start up?
