How long does it take bacteria to establish in a clean filter . i have a mature internal filter in my tank and 2 new external filters, also on same tank . how long should i leave the internal one in the tank to ensure that the external filters are mature enough? tank is 400 litres with medium fish load in it .

I ususally leave the filters running side by side for about 3 weeks, before removing the old filter.
