Hi all,

I'm just trying to think of some more bottom dwellers for my tank (juwel vision 260). Currently a got 9 fairly small cichlids in there (largest being blue acaras @ about 4-5 inches) and 2 small plecs.
Anyone got some good suggestions for some more attractive bottom dwellers?

Cheers.

What cichlids are they because 9 sounds like quite alot.
Maybe a type of cory like Skunk, Laser or Black.

I've got 2 blue acaras, 4 rainbows, 1 juvi JD (about 1 1/2 inches) and a pair of african butterfly's!

not sure of the dimensions of your tank but clown loaches are the best IMO

Interesting and attractive and ace in a little group

The dimensions are: 121 x 46 x 62 cm
I do like the look of clown loaches, I've had them in the past, but I've heard they can grow pretty big and get quite ugly at a larger size?

Ah beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I am with simonas on the subject of Clowns :good: , But yes Clown Loach do get big as they grow into adult age.

I think YOYO's were mentioned a group of them have great character as do Zebra Loach I am a big fan of panda cory they are great in a group tranquil at times but crazy energetic on occasion. I think it is worth looking into any candidate to check there water requirements against your Chilids sorry I do not have any knowledge of Chilids so I do not know if they match with what you have but for the sake of your fish and tank it would be wise to do some research before adding another species.

The issue with Corys is that due to their small size, they can be easily bullied... this was the case in my 46 gallon bow-front tank. My corys were bullied to the point of me removing them from the tank and moving them to another.

Bottom feeder in my 46 gallon bowfront is now a group of Yoyo Loaches. They're adorable, active, and don't grow as large as the Clown Loach. My group, originally 6, is now 3, but I plan to add more in the future.

I've found that they do better in a group of 6 or more. They're much more active. My guys do an amazing job of not only eating their own food, but also eating all of the food that is missed by the other inhabitants of the tank (Serpae Tetras, ABF, Angelfish).

I wouldnt put cories in with cichlids, some can get to quite large sizes but really the are gentle things, they would get bullied badly.

Not a fan of yoyos, i have a large group in with my angels, were great when they were smaller, but when they got to around full size they kept latching onto my angels, constantly harrassing them, they got removed very quickly and traded.

In with the cichlids metioned though they should be ok though

Just got 4 clown loaches from my lfs today, only little things at the moment but I've heard they grow pretty rapidly!

Cheers for all the suggestions!

They grow pretty slow, i have 2 of my originals here i bought as 5cm in 2008 and they are now 9-10cm 2010....so 2yrs they've grown approx 4-5cm. They are in a 90gal tank and are very well fed.
