At What Point Do You Ask For Help

Yeah, i'll treat the fish as far as I can but as soon as I feel my treatments are ineffective or out of my depth then i'll ask for help. I'd rather go to a reputable LFS or another fishkeeper than a vet which has been hinted may not have the specific fishkeeping knowledge. I guess I would only go to the vet for an expensive fish or to treat a serious infection that needs antibiotics.
