i find im never 100% happy with the way my tank looks.im always changing things and moving stuff around.anyone else like this.

I like it, but more plants in the background would be a nice touch. Basically covering the whole area where the gravel "meets" the wall.

I am, sometimes i will be very happy, then i will come on here and other sites, see the stunning tanks of other member and end up not so happy

Iam happy with my tank that started out with fake wood, plants, and ugly river rock gravel, and is now planted and vibrant with black sand. But my high tech planted tank will never be done.

I'd be happier with it if someone else would give it a high tech make over for free. That's never going to happen, so it will have to stay as it is, a bit wild and messy and covered in algae! Fish probably prefer it.

When I had lots of nice plants, I was forever playing with the layout. Now I am forever looking at the fish I own and wondering if "x" species should go in "y" tank for better all round compatability (temp, general behaviour, fedding behaviour etc.)... Drives me mad at times, especially recently as I have 48 Lionhead Cichlid youngsters and after my fat-belly Ilyodon xantusi finally gave birth overnight, I was shocked to count ~29 Limones Goodeid youngsters!:fun:

I would be 100% happy if I could only fit twin T5 bulbs in my hood

Thats all I want..

And about my tank, I'm obviously not happy enough with it.
I'm waiting for my water sprite to grow (provided that the newly planted separate branches won't get uprooted by the hoplo), my dad is still working on a quite interesting hood with a white neon, I'll need to find a black background or something with a dark rock texture (external) and I still lack trumpet snails.

My ideal tank would be one that has all 4 corners planted and plants growing towards surface, covering almost all surface except a spot in the middle. That way the catfish can have a cave made of plants so he won't hurt himself in them and any fry my swordies would have would be safe from becoming a meal. Black background or textured dark bg to make the plants and fish stand out, combined with the white sand that should look nice.
I'm not fussy about the hood, I just want some light to go from the top of the tank, as light from the sides is confusing my swordies and they swim with their back towards the light.
A cooler would be epic to have (in case a heater would go nutz and start overheating the tank, a cooler would save the fish by keeping the temp fixed at around 24C).

I'm happy with the look but never with the stocking unless it's male bettas!

Nope, never happy with my tank. I always find some small niggle that sometimes litraly keeps me awake.

lol sometimes after pruning stem plants and cleaning up for the day, I'll come back in the room and a few will be floating. That literally keeps me up half the night, the need to fix them! I have to fight not to have my hands in the tank 100 times a day.
