I have 3 upside down catfish in my 29 gallon. I absolutley love them. They have driftwood and plants to hide in. They are fed Fluval Bug Bites daily, and flake food that gets to the bottom, and they and my corydoras share some Tetra Shrimp Wafers at night. They also get frozen bloodworms once a week. I skip one day of feeding each week too. Am I over feeding? The Upside down catfish seem to be a bit fat. At least compared to other upside down catfish pics online.

They may be gravid females? Sorry, I don't have any experience with USDC.

I was thinking that may be it. I was hoping to breed them at some point but I have no idea if I have males or females.

you can always reduce feeding and see what happens, these catfish will be fine without food for a few days. I have no experience with s. nigriventris but from my experience with decorus and the like, they would gorge themselves and then sleep it off in their caves. Usually the more belly full they are the more peaceful they are.
