New to the forum and new to fish keeping, so when I bought 8 harlequins and dropped them into my tank I noticed that 2 of them seemed to be staying closer together than the others, this evening they are up to something, lol, they are side by side and finning vigoursly, then coming together briefly and back to finning and then together etc. I know these fish are not the easiest to breed but is this possible.

Did you see this?

The video is great. Did they munch on a couple of eggs too afterwards? :)

Not my video, just a quick youtube search.

I've seen mine start to act that way a few times, but never witnessed the act of mating and certainly didn't have a camera handy!

I'd assume that any and all of the tank mates ate a few eggs afterwards...

Well I have witnessed this happening again this morning and this time I could see the eggs just like the vidio, but I assume all the eggs will be eaten by all in the tank.

More than likely... If you put marbles in the bottom, they might sink between where they can't be reached.
