i was in woolworths yesterday and saw a lovely budda statue, it is made of some sort of pottery, maybe this terracotta?, i am not 100% though as it dosent have packaging and didnt say on the label.as its for use in the garden then it has to be water resistent, so what do i need to look for before i put it in the tank? or can i def not use them?
i wont be devastated if i cant it was just that i liked it and the lfs equvivlent if they had one would be in the £50 range i would think... oh it was hollow too.

would love to know, they also have some small resin one, what about those?

edit** the budda is painted, tho i have no idea what with, its a one tone grey

i dont see why not, people certainly put terracotta pots as breeding caves in tanks, if thats what it is made of

EDIT - just read about it being painted, hmm in not so sure

i'd say more than like ly u would be able 2 use it but u mentioned it was hollow just make sure it will sink first last thing u want is a pot or anythink like that floating around hitting the glass lol :):)

ok, first thing is the vinegar test, drop a tiny bit of vinegar on the statue somewhere (like the base or inside where you can't see it) if it fizzes then it's a definate no.

the paint would concern me a bit.... depends what sort of paint it is i guess?!

was thinkinh the same as miss wiggles as its for the garden they probally didnt care what paint went on it and if which it may well do start to flake off might not look so nice

i wouldn't think it'd be too hard to find a plain terracotta budda from a garden centre though if you really wanted one. :good:

thanks everyone, ill get one check it out and if its not suitable then it will look good in the garden ,so no loss, thanks again
