Unsure where this topic would go, but I recently purchased the aqueon water changer and I cannot find anything on how to assemble it. Does anyone have any pointers?

Edit: I saw the video, and it has parts I don't have. I have a part that juts out and narrows like a cone, and there's no such part in the video. Plus, the tubing will not go over the siphon tube thing.

If you are missing parts, which is highly possible considering how it is packaged, you will need to either return it or ask for the missing parts from where you purchased it.

I've used this before and I hated it. I much prefer either using my mouth (yuck if you do it wrong) or a pump (which is what I do now).

Have never had a Aqueon Water Changer, though looking at them online it does not look totally disimilar to a python hose system which is what I use, a DIY one I made myself and tbh its has be worth its weight in gold for these water changes, MUCH easier than dreaded buckets especially on large tanks.

Am unsure what issues you are having, as you do not describe much as to what you need to do, usually its pretty self explantionary but with missing parts then the task is much harder especially if you have never had done anything similar.

As tcamos says, either send the package of what you have back or ask for the missing parts from the supplier you used, that would be the easiest way of ensuring you have all the parts needed.

Indeed, its now a bit of an art to start syphons with just a hose and its actually extremely simple, also using a pump is easy as it helps with the speed of water coming out from tank and vice versa :)

I got it figured out, thank goodness, about thirty seconds after I made that edit! And ugh, yeah, the mouth siphon start. My mother had borrowed my siphon when I was emptying my 10 gallon, so I jerry rigged some airline tubing from the tank, against the wall, and into the tub. Needless to say, it needed the mouth version

Hah.

You'll learn ;)

We, who use this type of syphon, know only too well when it goes wrong starting the syphon action, so we've been there and got the t shirt!

I just jam the tank end of the syphon hard into the gravel. It jolts the water up, and once you've gotten it above the tank rim, gravity takes over. MUCH more pleasant than sucking on fishy tubing.
