As anyone used aquarium sealant before?

I resealed a tank yesterday and was wondering how long to leave it to dry before adding water to the tank.

Online says it cures in 24hrs but it reaches maximum adhesion in 7 days. Some people leave it 48hrs others leave it more. Anyone got experience with using it?

Many thanks :)

I use normal silicon glue for aquarium and it worked just fine, I left it for about 5 days.
Before you add any fishes, add water to see if the tank leaks or not.

Yeah im going to fill the tank half full for a few days then fill to the top and leave for a further few days.

Just wasnt sure how long to leave the sealant to cure before i attemped putting water in

I'm assuming we're speaking of 100% silicone. Because the amount of silicone used for sealing is small, it fully cures in 24 - 48 hours at room temperature. You could wait longer, but it probably doesn't make much difference. The most important thing is that all old silicone is completely removed (as new silicone does not adhere well old) and the area is cleaned well with with alcohol or acetone to ensure the best adhesion.
