Finally convinced hubby we need another tank and the only sort of size we can have for the width to make it bigger is the deep 130ltr aquaone 620t
i've got a space of about 26" accross where the juwel rekord 60 is at the moment - that will be going in the bedroom if i get the aquaone

Does anyone know if the aquaone 620t's are good tanks or are there any other similar ones that will be over 100 ltrs but only 26" accross
waiting for an aquaone 620t to appear cheap on ebay - under £100

Thanks Sarah xxx

hi Sarah,
ive got one of these, and while its excellent as in great built in trickle filter, good lights, its a pain in the ass to stock and clean, its so tall that its quite unsuitable for a lot of bottom feeders, but what i had in mine was angels..they love the height, platys, danios
i have infact sold this tank, im waiting to hear what day the bloke wants to collect it,and i wont be looking forward to dismantling it and cleaning it out,its over 2 ft tall and my arms are not lol, gravel vacs would be ok if you got one of the very tall vacs by marina,i dont know too many people that have one of them. but they are great if you are limited for space, i had mine next to the pc desk and shall miss watching it, but definatley wont miss maintaining it.what i would have been inclined to do with it would have been to fill it with rocks and some small cichlids,
on the plus side, i paid £50 second hand for it,looks stunning with the angels in there and the cabinet is very sturdy
if theres anything else you like to know, just get in touch

Thanks for that lots of info think i'll definately get one , i'm going to be housing humpback Limias and platys or swordtails in there with some shrimp and apple snails - as for cleaning out hubby going to do it for me lol
As i said the lack of space is the main problem cos i wanted to set up my breeding colony of Limias and needed a larger tank so this should be perfect

Thanks again

I have the 620t. For two years i used the trickle filters in the hood but i wasnt too impressed with that system. I used to get a lot of silt and debris accumalating in the hoods which i found awkward to clean. So a few months ago i did away with that and put a fluval 3+ filter in the tank and used to area in the hood to house my air pump. Anyhow apart from that the tank has been no problem but i found its best to have a light sand because the lights arent that bright. The sand reflects the light back, being a deep tank if your water greens slightly the light wont reach the bottom with much effect. You will need to replace them every 6 months for sure. (7.90 each at my local store). I use an extra long gravel cleaner to reach the bottom and make sure you have everything in the right place before you fill to the top with water otherwise you're going to need some long arms.!!! Ideal tank for me living in a bungalow as i havent much floor area. See my profile to see what i have in my 620t. Good luck

i live in a ground floor flat so i have the same problem with lack of space
Looking at getting tetra's and neons to go with the Limias , platties and golden white clouds and shrimps (eventually though might change my mind lol)
You're tank must look great with the selection you have in it would love to see some pics :)
When i get the tank i'm putting my cycled stingray 15 from the 180ltr juwel in there and also some of the media from the juwel filter so it should be cycled right away will just have to keep an eye , thats what i did when i changed from the rekord 60 upto the juwel rio 180 and had no probs
LMAO at all the long arm comments i'm going to make sure everything is in the right places before its filled with water

Thanks for the info take care

I think the AquaOnes are great :hyper: I have 2 and other family members have them too.....

With the filtration I would just disgard the cartridges (far too expensive) and just use noodles, wool and foam from the pond dept.

However, the 620T I feel is a bit too tall for the amount of water it holds. What I mean is the amount of water surface area where oxygen transferance takes place is a shade small for the amount of water/probable stock level in the tank.

Surface aggitation will cure this by either using an air pump or having the return shoot right at the surface for maximum ripple effect.

A step ladder may be needed at cleaning time.

May I suggest the 620 (without the T) Same footprint but shallower (90ltr I think).

*Added Edit* Hey Shelagh, you fianally given up on the old AquaOne

i always use an airstone now so will use one if i get the aquaone will also have an extra internal filter in it
i always make sure i have a stormy surface in my tanks lmao
I'm definataly going for the tall one or it will be another rio 180 and get rid of the telly lmao
