Apisto's Or Dwarf Gourami's

Well for a while i have been debating on what possible pair/trio of fish to put in my 10 gal which will soon be empty of juvi corys.

I was opting on small apisto's,but after having a think i've always wanted dwarf gourami's especially the blue variety...

So now i have a dilemma and i can't make up my mind,which in your opinion would do better in a 10 gal?

The tank has plenty of filtration for the size a eheim liberty 2042 hob,and i'm planning on getting black tahitian sand and trying to add some plants(plants & i dont mix well ), and maybe bogwood i'm hoping the black sand would be suitable for either fish.My ph is around 7.8.

Possible tank mates if any would be a trio of ottos...

Please help me decide and possibly give me pros and cons of both types of fish please

I'm getting bleary eyed at reading all the info on the net,so would like some owners input and advice please.

Gouramis, simply because apistos being in a 10gal will be cramped, esp if you were thinking of putting ottos in,too

I voted Dwarf Gouramis, but in truth, Honey Gouramis are much more peaceful than Dwarfs

Oops I voted apisto, but did not register the 10 gallon. The do best in a trio, male and 2 female and a 10 gallon is too small, 20-30 for a pair minimum I would say. Sorry about the miss vote.

i always advise against pairs or trios of gouramis. i love em, but they dont pal around the way cichlids do. it'll just be a lot of chasing and harassing, especially during mating. i have a trio in a 20 gallon tank right now. if i could do it over, i'd just have one male.

I voted for the gouramis. If you can find wild caught ones, they are the best. Their natural red and blue coloration is bright enough to be attractive and the chances of them being healthy are better than with the farm raised, inbred ones.

Bearing in mind a Male Hongsloi only reaches around 4CM at the most, a pair would be fine in a 10 gallon
Gourami's like to have space to swim, so i think a 10 gallon is too small for even one,
